We would like to welcome you to become an active part of Gongkar Choede Monastery.

Since the founding of Gongkar Choede Monastery in India, the process of reviving and revitalizing the Dzongpa lineage of Sakya has been steady and sure. With very limited funding, some projects have been protracted and constrained. The monastery is comparatively small, with only one incumbent Rinpoche, and both the monks and lay followers have had to work very hard to recover since the occupation of Tibet.

All traditions of Tibetan Buddhism have worked tirelessly to insure the continuity of the teachings. Each lineage has a special role in transmitting and preserving the vast teachings of the Buddha. It is only possible for all lineages to survive and flourish because of the courage and deep faith in the Buddha's teachings, along with the generous support from many kind people from all over the world. It is also  dependent upon the proper training of the monastic community, providing the basic conditions for them to practice the profound teachings, as well as the preservation and publications of Buddhist texts.

In becoming a benefactor of Gongkar Choede, you will be helping to ensure the continuity of the Dzongpa lineage and the well being of its community.

May the merit of giving and receiving benefit all sentient beings!

How to Help

Request Special Prayers. If you would like to make an offering to sponsor one of the pujas for healing, long life and the overcoming of obstacles or to sponsor a special dedication, please email your request so we may tailor your request to suit your particular need.

Support for the Sangha. The offering of a donation, no matter how humble, for the welfare of the Dzongpa Sangha is greatly appreciated.

A donation of $300.00 will help support one monk for a year. You may choose to offer $25.00 a month, on a recurring basis for sponsorship.  If you wish, you may sponsor a particular monk. All the monks are learning English and would be very happy to have a chance to practice their writing by keeping in touch with you to let you know how their studies are progressing. Please be sure to email us if you would like to keep in touch with a monk and we will make an introduction.
Help Build Our New Temple. By offering a donation, no matter how small, or becoming a sponsor, you can partake in the joy of helping build our new temple, Gongkar Tsedrup Lhakhang. A large statue of the great scholar and saint Nagarjuna already graces the entrance of the grounds and one small building for monks' lodging has been completed. Building plans are now being formulated for the Temple.

On behalf of His Eminence Dorje Dhenpa Rinpoche and all the monks of Gongkar Choede Monastery, we would like offer our blessings and appreciation.
